UKVisa Checklist
Prepare your documents with confidence
To study in the UK you need an unconditional offer and a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS) from a licensed university, enough money held in the bank for 28 days, and a TB test certificate. This checklist takes you from offer to visa application.

Personalise your checklist
Pick what matches your situation and we'll flag the sections that apply to you. Nothing is hidden — a visa is refused on what's missing, not on what's extra.
The first step is an offer from a UK university.
Dependants
Most students on taught courses can no longer bring a partner or children. Dependants are generally allowed only for postgraduate research courses, or for government-sponsored students on courses longer than six months.
You must show your unpaid first-year tuition fee, as shown on your CAS, plus living costs for up to 9 months.
Living costs to show — applications from 30 November 2026
- Studying in London
- £1,570 per month (up to £14,130)
- Studying outside London
- £1,203 per month (up to £10,827)
The 28-day rule
The full amount must stay in the account for at least 28 consecutive days, and the last day of that period must be no more than 31 days before you apply.
Saving deposits
Funds in your parents' name
Education loan
Not acceptable as evidence of funds
- Co-operative societies or other non-regulated institutions
- Shares, bonds, mutual funds or pension funds
- Property or land valuation
- Money not held for the full 28 days
Common mistakes to avoid
- Money that has not sat in the account for the full 28 consecutive days does not count, however large the balance.
- A closing balance alone is not enough — the statement has to cover the whole 28-day period.
You need a TB test if you are coming to the UK for 6 months or more, you have lived in Nepal for 6 months or more, and you were living there within the last 6 months. The Home Office only accepts certificates from its approved clinics.
